We review your current website, decide what needs to change, and plan a clear launch. The work includes useful content, existing URLs, and the path customers take to contact you. Search rankings and sales are not guaranteed.
Redesign the website or improve what you have?
An outdated appearance alone does not tell us whether you need a rebuild. If your page structure and publishing setup still work, targeted changes to mobile layouts, service descriptions, navigation, or forms may solve the problem with a smaller scope.
A rebuild may be needed when the content no longer matches the business, navigation is confusing, mobile features are difficult to use, or the platform makes updates hard.
Use the redesign decision guide for a self-assessment. This service focuses on planning and delivering the approved changes. For a first website, see custom website development.
Visual refresh or structural rebuild?
A focused visual and usability refresh
This can retain the existing page destinations while improving typography, spacing, mobile layouts, images, navigation, and contact options. The work should still verify important links, forms, and search metadata. A visual refresh does not require changing every URL.
A structural rebuild
A rebuild may change the templates, platform, navigation, or page organization. It needs more deliberate content and URL mapping, integration review, and launch planning. Existing email, booking, payment, and form services must be identified before changing hosting or DNS. Ecommerce and account-based features require their own requirements.
The proposal confirms the pages, integrations, content responsibilities, review process, and launch checks. Branding, copywriting, apps, and ongoing SEO are included only when agreed.
Preserve valuable content and plan every changed destination
We review the current URLs, useful content, search data available to the project, important downloads, and customer entry points. A page that brings relevant visitors should not disappear simply because its design is being replaced. Keep a working destination when it remains useful, or map it to a genuinely relevant replacement.
When URLs change, the plan includes appropriate permanent redirects, updated internal links, canonical URLs, and sitemap entries. Sending unrelated old pages to the homepage is not a substitute for page mapping. Search Console verification and existing measurement identifiers also need continuity.
Google's site-move documentation recommends preparing the new site, mapping old and new URLs, configuring redirects, and monitoring the change. It also explains that significant moves can cause temporary ranking fluctuations. Careful implementation reduces preventable errors, but search systems determine how and when pages are processed.
The website redesign SEO checklist is the detailed preparation resource. The engagement turns the relevant checks into a reviewed project scope and launch process.
Make the next customer action easier
Help customers understand your services, confirm your coverage area, and request help. This may mean clearer service pages, simpler navigation, easier phone links, or a shorter inquiry form.
We review the journey from a likely landing page to the next step. A submission success message needs to reflect an actual accepted request, and required-field or delivery errors should explain what the visitor can do. Existing analytics and consent choices should carry through without counting one action twice.
Before launch, we check the agreed contact paths on phones and desktops, including delivery and integrations. After launch, available inquiry data helps guide improvements.
How Colby Technologies approaches a redesign
- Review the current site. Share the URL, problems, service priorities, access available, and any relevant search or inquiry data. We separate confirmed issues from assumptions.
- Agree on a preservation and redesign plan. Define pages, content, URL decisions, integrations, account responsibilities, cost, and review milestones.
- Implement and review. Build the approved structure and layouts, retain useful material, and review the customer journey with the business.
- Verify and launch. Check the agreed mobile and desktop behavior, links, forms, redirects, metadata, and production deployment.
- Confirm the handoff and next responsibilities. Document how updates are made and whether the business wants separately scoped monthly website management or ongoing SEO.
Launch timing and the level of post-launch review depend on the approved scope and readiness of the content and integrations. Website management and ongoing SEO are optional recurring services, with their own inclusions and pricing.

What to send for a redesign review
Send your website address, the main problems, features to retain, and any launch deadline. Mention the platform, available access, and any planned domain or business-name change.
Do not send passwords, recovery codes, payment details, or private customer records through the inquiry form. We can discuss supported access arrangements after identifying the project. A domain move is a separate planning decision; it is not required for a redesign.
Questions before you commit
Can useful pages keep their current URLs?
Yes, when the existing destinations make sense. URL changes should solve a real structural problem and have a reviewed mapping.
Will a redesign improve my Google position?
It can address technical and content problems, but rankings are not a promised deliverable. We can agree on the work, verify implementation, and monitor relevant performance after launch.
Does the website need to move to a different host?
Only if the approved requirements justify it. We review the existing platform, access, limitations, and connected services before proposing a move.
What does a redesign cost?
It depends on the pages, platform, content, integrations, and preservation work. The published website package starting points provide context, but your redesign quote confirms the actual scope. Third-party charges and recurring support are identified separately.
